There is no disputing that our world is warming, with the deep ocean warming faster than imagined. Arctic ice is melting and sea level is rising. We are putting too much carbon dioxide into the atmoshpere by excessive burning of fossil fuels.
Climate change poses serious threats to our health, safety, economy, and environment. We must reduce emisssions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, pursue innovative clean energy solutions, and learn how to adapt to and mitigate the changes that are already taking place.
In addition to warming the planet, carbon dioxide also has serious implications for our health. Higher temperatures associated with global warming worsen ground-level ozone pollution, triggering asthma attacks and contributing to other respiratory and cardiovascular problems. By absorbing more carbon dioxide our oceans, even off the coast of Maine, are becoming more acidic threatening aquactic life.
